Open Air celebrates 80th birthday with 25p tickets to Ragtime

As part of its 80th anniversary this year, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre will celebrate by pricing 200 tickets for this Friday’s performance of Ragtime the Musical at just 25 pence each – the original price of a ticket, five shillings, when the theatre first opened in 1932. Tickets go on sale at 11am on Thursday 12 July.

Top-price tickets will also be available for £19.32 for performances until 21 July 2012 of Ragtime the Musical and this summer’s Shakespeare offering, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Both are available only through www.openairtheatre.com/1932.

Over the past 80 years, the Open Air Theatre has witnessed fledgling performances from many future stars, including Vivien Leigh, Sheridan Smith, Deborah Kerr, Richard E Grant, Hugh Bonneville, Jim Broadbent, Ralph Fiennes, Eileen Atkins and Jessica Tandy.
