Robert Lindsay Joins Lumley in Nunn’s Lion???

Following news earlier in the week that Joanna Lumley is gearing up to play Eleanor of Aquitaine in Trevor Nunn‘s premiere of The Lion in Winter at the Haymarket, the Daily Mail this morning reports that she could appear alongside Robert Lindsay as Henry II. James Goldman’s 1966 Broadway play which was famously made into a 1968 play starring Katharine Hepburn and Peter O’Toole, is about the 12th-century queen who returns to court after being imprisoned by her husband King Henry II for ten years. The role could mark Lindsay’s first return to the West End since taking the title role in last year’s Onassis. The Mail also report that Trevor Nunn will take the reigns on the production, potentially the final offering in his year-long season at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. It follows The Tempest, which stars Ralph Fiennes as the sorcerer Prospero and runs from 6 September to 29 October 2011 (previews from 27 August) and the current Chichester Festival Theatre transfer of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead which continues until 20 August 2011.
