Amongst the major London openings, in the West End and further afield, this week are:
OPENING MONDAY, 4 July 2011, British photographer, fashion editor and now playwright Amanda Eliasch debuts her first play As I Like It. Challenged by her father, the journalist and writer Anthony Cave Brown to write it, her Chelsea Theatre premiere is directed by Lyall Watson. It continues until 14 July.
OPENING TUESDAY (previews from 1 July), award-winning director Thom Southerland returns to Upstairs at the Gatehouse with his transcendent production of The Diary of Anne Frank. It plays until 24 July. ALSO ON TUESDAY (previews from), the Rose Theatre revives Shakespeare’s tragic Othello. LAMDA graduate Nana-Amoo Gottfried takes on the title role. The production runs until 30 July.
OPENING WEDNESDAY, 6 July 2011 (previews from 24 June), the Menier Chocolate Factory presents Stephen Sondheim’s Road Show, directed by John Doyle and starring David Bedella and Michael Jibson as fortune-seeking brothers during the Americaan Gold Rush. Ends 18 September.

ALSO ON WEDNESDAY, the children’s show The Tiger Who Came to Tea starts a nine-week daytime season at the Vaudeville Theatre through to 4 September.
OPENING THURSDAY, 7 July 2011 (previews from 6 July), the Whatsonstage.com Award-winning comedy Yes, Prime Minister, returns to the West End. Anthony Jay and Jonathan Lynn’s comedy based on their long-running sitcom, comes to the Apollo Theatre following a national tour, this time fronted by Simon Williams and Richard McCabe. It plays a limited season until 17 September.

ALSO ON THURSDAY (previews from 1 July), Coronation Street’s Gray O’Brien stars in Park Avenue Cat alongside Tessa Peake- Jones, Josefina Gabrielle and Daniel Weyman. Playing at the Arts Theatre until 20 August.
ALSO ON THURSDAY (previews from 1 July), Edward Dick’s The Turn of the Screw, about a young woman convinced that the children in her care are possessed by ghosts, opens at the King’s Head Theatre. It plays a limited run to 28 July.
ALSO ON THURSDAY (previews from 5 July), W Somerset Maugham’s emotional drama For Services Rendered, chronicling the devastating effects of war on an English family, opens at the Union Theatre. Ends 23 July.
OPENING FRIDAY, 8 July 2011 (previews from 5 July), Toad at the Southwark Playhouse is a dark interpretation of Kenneth Grahame’s classic The Wind in the Willows. It continues until 30 July.
