Fleeshman Faced Broken Foot Rehearsing Ghost???

Richard Fleeshman broke his foot whilst preparing for his role in Ghost the Musical, the actor has exclusively told Whatsonstage.com. Speaking to Joseph Pike, Fleeshman revealed he was on crutches for “a large part of rehearsals” saying the incident was “quite serious”, and suggesting it may have stopped him from playing the part. Fleeshman says the injury, caused by the Coronation Street and Legally Blonde star being hit by a car, drew him closer to his character in the musical, who is killed by a mugger and then comes back to protect Molly (Caissie Levy) as a ghost. “My understanding of what Sam went through, in that instant of everything potentially being taken away, was massive. In that moment, this whole journey and this amazing adventure I’ve been on could have been taken away.”

Fleeshman stars in Ghost the Musical, alongside Caissie Levy, Andrew Langtree and Sharon D Clark. The screen-to-stage adaptation, directed by Matthew Warcus, opens at the West End’s Piccadilly Theatre tomorrow (19 July 2011, previews from 24 June) following a try-out run in Manchester. It has a book by Oscar-winning screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin and music and lyrics by the Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart and Grammy Award winner Glen Ballard.
