As her role as Peggy Mitchell on BBC soap EastEnders comes to an end, Barbara Windsor is reportedly “looking at new options” and, more specifically, she’s said “I quite like the idea of doing a musical”. In fact, the musical stage is not new at all for Windsor. Though she hasn’t appeared on stage in many years, her early musical credits include Twang, Come Spy Withe Me, Sing a Rude Song, The Threepenny Opera, Carry On Barbara! and, on Broadway, Oh, What a Lovely War!, for which she was Tony nominated in 1965.
