On Second Thoughts, Maybe Salem Shouldn’t Do That Trick???

By • West End
Mind reader Marc Salem, who is baffling audiences at north London’s Tricycle Theatre with his psychic powers, cut his hand during Wednesday night’s press performance in a trick that went wrong when he slammed his hand down on an upturned knife. However, he continued with the show – albeit bandaged up – and the element of spontaneity impressed the crowd. A show spokesperson told Whatsonstage.com: “It was a complete accident. It’s only ever happened twice and it’s very unlucky. I think it proves that, although he is fallible, the show is not fake, and he really can injure himself. He did go on with the show.” A behavioural psychologist as well as an entertainer, Salem has used his academic training and understanding of non-verbal communication as a consultant for the FBI, the New York police and several US corporations. On Second Thoughts runs at the Tricycle until 5 August 2006.
