How many plays have been set in or centred on London? Whatever the number, it’s set to mushroom with Out of Joint’s latest project. The title rather says it all: One Million Tiny Plays About London. Craig Taylor, a features writer for the Guardian, has put the piece together based on real-life conversations he’s overheard in London’s parks, doorsteps, bars, streets and supermarkets. Was he eavesdropping on one of your tête-à-têtes? There’s only one way to find out! The dialogues will be performed by a cast of eight – Philip Desmeules, Cicely Giddings, Ben Haigh, Jack Ladenburg, Gugu Mbartha-Raw, Emma Parsons, Charity Wakefield and Des Yankson – for three performances only from 21 to 23 July 2006 at the Clerkenwell Theatre. Out of Joint assistant director Naomi Jones directs, with proceeds donated to the Hope Centre in Togo, West Africa.
