Tony Inspires Billy Joel to Make More Stage Music???

By • West End
Speaking of Billy Joel, the singer-songwriter has apparently been so inspired by his Tony Award-winning Broadway experience with Movin' Out (See Today's Other Goss), that he now wants to write an original musical. A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Joel's many records have sold more than 100 million copies over his 30 years in the record business. Several of his greatest hits - including "Only the Good Die Young", "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me", "Just the Way You Are", "Uptown Girl", "Goodnight Saigon" and the title song - have already been incorporated into Movin' Out. Not that that worries Joel. Apparently, he'd like to pen some new material for the new musical, which he wants to set in the music industry. It's still early days - a book writer has not yet been appointed - but the project has the reported backing of Joel and James Nederlander Jr, two of Movin' Out heavyweight backers.
