British television star Samantha Janus is expected to take to the boards in the West End this autumn in a revival of Frederick Knott's hit Wait Until Dark. The stage thriller premiered in 1966 when Honor Blackman starred; the following year it became a film vehicle for Audrey Hepburn. The play's Broadway original starred Lee Remick and Robert Duvall while Marisa Tomei and Quentin Tarantino signed up for the 1998 revival. In Wait Until Dark, Sam Henderson's innocent offer to deliver a doll to a sick child sparks off a frightening series of events. Three conmen will stop at nothing to get the doll's secret cargo, but they aren't prepared for the ingenuity of Sam's blind wife, Suzy. Janus is best known for TV programmes such as Strange, Game On, Babes in the Wood and Liverpool One as well as the film Up 'n' Under. Prior to an expected West End transfer, Wait Until Dark is scheduled for a limited run from 16 to 27 September 2003 at Windsor's Theatre Royal.
