Gerald Moon's award-winning comedy thriller Corpse! will receive a nationwide tour this summer and autumn, opening at Northampton's Theatre Royal on 15 August 2002 before continuing to a further 15 venues until 2 December.

The new production stars Mark McGann, brother of fellow actors Paul, Joe and Stephen. McGann recently appeared alongside Kenneth Branagh in TV's Shackleton, while his stage credits include An Inspector Calls, Lennon, Up on the Roof and Blood Brothers. He's joined in the cast by former Dr Who Colin Baker and Louise Jameson (who played Rosa Di Marco on EastEnders).

It's London in 1936, the day of the royal abdication, and the scene is set for the carefully plotted crime. Corpse! is a comedy thriller telling the story of one identical twin's plot to kill the other. Evelyn, a 'resting' actor engages the genial but rather shady Major Powell to dispose of his twin in order to assume his persona and inherit his fortune.

Corpse! is directed by Robin Herford (best known for ever-popular thriller The Woman in Black, still playing on the West End after 13 years) and designed by Elroy Ashmore, with lighting by Jack Thompson.

Following Northampton, the production will visit on to Bath, Woking, Ipswich, Cheltenham, Peterborough, Darlington, Salford, Bromley, Edinburgh, Richmond, Poole, Coventry, Brighton and Milton Keynes. The tour is produced by Kenneth Wax Ltd and Nick Brooke Ltd.
