Rumours of an all-new musical based on Helen of Troy abound, and if that wasn't odd enough, Ian La Renais and Dick Clement, writers of Auf Weidersen Pet, are writing the book. Brian Johnson (lead vocalist of AC/DC) is behind the music and lyrics alongside Brendan Healy the British composer. The AC/DC star wanted to write a show in the style of Les Miserables but using a variety of actors, singers and dancers. Robert de Warren, former artistic director of La Scala Opera Ballet, will be choreographing not just dancers but jugglers, acrobats and fire-eaters as well. Malcolm McDowell, star of A Clockwork Orange, is said to be up for the role of narrator Zeus, with Jerry Springer also vying to play the Greek god. The musical is expected to open in Sarasota, Florida in the US before an American tour and a possible Broadway transfer.
