Tour dates confirmed for Mike Bartlett’s Headlong Medea

Dates have been confirmed for Headlong’s forthcoming production of Euripides’ Medea, which is adapted and directed by Mike Bartlett.

According to press material, “In this chilling study of passion, love and vengeance, Bartlett transforms the wronged everywoman of Greek mythology into a recognisable and fallible woman of today.”

The production premieres at the Citizens Theatre, Glasgow on 2 October (previews from 27 September) before opening to London press at Watford Palace Theatre on 18 October (previews from 16 October) and then embarking on a UK tour to Northern Stage (30 October to 3 November), Sherman Cymru (6-10 November), Warwick Arts Centre (13-17 November), Richmond Theatre (20-24 November) and Exeter Northcott (28 November-1 December).

Bartlett’s previous work for Headlong includes Decade, Earthquakes in London and a new commission for 2013. Other work includes Chariots of Fire (Hampstead Theatre/Gielgud), Love Love Love (Paines Plough and Royal Court) and Cock (Royal Court/Off-Broadway – Olivier Award).

As previously reported, the new Headlong season also features a musical version of American Psycho and Enron writer Lucy Prebble’s new play The Effect.
