Brinkley Crosses Atlantic for West End Chicago Role???

Supermodel Christie Brinkley may make her way to London, taking on the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago in the West End following her current Broadway appearance in the show. According to reports on Showbiz 411, Brinkley, who is the ex-wife of Billy Joel and has modelled on the cover of over 500 magazines, could move to London alongside co-star Amra-Faye Wright who currently plays Velma Kelly in the Kander and Ebb show’s Broadway production. In addition to making her New York theatre debut Brinkley’s career has spanned work as an artist, writer, photographer and designer, in addition, she is a philanthropist and environmental and political activist. Her previous acting appearances have included the 1983 film National Lampoon’s Vacation and its 1997 sequel Vegas Vacation. She was also famously Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl” as well as making appearances in videos for his songs “Keeping the Faith” and “All About Soul”.

Playing at the Cambridge Theatre until 27 August 2011, Chicago will leave its London home of five years (having transferred there from the Adelphi on 28 April 2006) to make way for the RSC’s upcoming transfer of Matilda the Musical. Producers are hopeful that the show’s “record-breaking 14-year run in the West End will continue” in another London theatre.
