Birds of a Feather Back Together on Stage???

The long-running 1990s sitcom Birds of a Feather has been suggested for a revival time and again in years past. Last year actress Linda Robson, who played Tracey in the BBC comedy for all nine series, stated that the show had been turned into a stage script but that production would depend on the availability of Pauline Quirke. In a recent interview with What’s On TV, Quirke revealed that she plans to depart the ITV1 soap opera Emmerdale at Christmas and will then indeed reprise her role as Sharon in the stage version of Birds of a Feather. The play is tipped tour in 2012 and reunite Quirke, Robson and Lesley Joseph in their original roles.

The sitcom, which aired from 1989 to 1998, focused on sisters Sharon and Tracey, thrown together when their husbands are jailed for armed bank robbery. Written by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, the series reached over 30 countries worldwide.

“I thought it was about time we resurrected us three old girls,” said Quirke. “We don’t know where we’re going to do it but we will be doing it – me, Linda and Lesley. We’re just trying to work out whether we bring the story forward or leave it as we left it. But we were all 20 years younger looking then so will probably have to refresh it a bit.”
