Ruthie Henshall Sings Sounds of Hollywood Tour

As previously tipped, Ruthie Henshall will premiere a new solo show this autumn, Ruthie Henshall – Sounds of Hollywood, which will initially play six dates at concert halls across the country, including a performance at London’s Royal Festival Hall at 3pm on Sunday 31 October 2010.

The Olivier Award-winning diva’s West End credits include Les Miserables, Oliver!, Cats, Miss Saigon, The Woman in White, Marguerite and Chicago. In the last, she originated the role of Roxie Hart in the current West End production and has returned to the musical several times on both sides of the Atlantic, most recently earlier this year.

In the new concert show, Henshall will perform song classics such as “There’s No Business Like Show Business”, “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly”, “People”, “Don’t Rain on My Parade”, “Anything You Can Do”, “I Can Do Better”, “The Man That Got Away” and “Somewhere over the Rainbow” from Oscar-winning movies such as My Fair Lady, Funny Girl and A Star is Born.

Commenting on the tour, Henshall said: “I am really looking forward to performing a programme of such fantastic songs that have become defining moments in each of the movies in which they appear. Along with a live orchestra and my guest singers/dancers, it’s a great opportunity to perform such unforgettable Hollywood classics.”

In addition to London, Sounds of Hollywood visits Gateshead (26 October), Birmingham (2 November), Manchester (14 November), Liverpool (24 November) and Cardiff (28 November). It’s presented by Raymond Gubbay.
