If you’re desperate to see Bob Martin as The Drowsy Chaperone’s amiable narrator, Man in Chair, it might be a good idea to book your tickets quickly. We hear that his engagement with the London production, just opened on Wednesday (See Today’s Review Round-up), may be strictly limited as he needs to get back to North America for two very important reasons: his wife is heavily pregnant and a major regional tour of the Tony Award-winning musical is also due.

Who will replace the show’s co-creator and role originator in the West End? Well, there may be a clue in our 1st Night Photos coverage of this week’s premiere. The League of Gentleman’s Steve Pemberton’s attendance we reckon was down to more than just idle curiosity! As part of the League, Pemberton won the Perrier Award for comedy, a BAFTA and the Golden Rose of Montreux Award. The troupe’s acclaimed, cult BBC2 TV show spawned two live stage productions and a feature film, The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse. Pemberton’s other credits include Match Point, Lassie and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on film, and Art (with his fellow Leaguers, Mark Gatiss and Reece Shearsmith), The Rocky Horror Show (which he narrated) and The Exonerated.
