If you're a fan of George Stiles and Anthony Drewe or just want a first-listen to songs from their upcoming musicals, Mary Poppins and Soho, get yourself down to the Open Air Theatre in Regent's Park this Saturday, 21 June 2003. A one-off anniversary concert is being held there to celebrate the first 20 years of the British writing partnership. In addition to excerpts from the new shows, the evening will feature cabaret material and songs from existing musicals such as Just So, Peter Pan, Tutankhamun and the Olivier Award-winning Honk!. Various musical theatre stars - including Clive Rowe, Laura Michelle Kelly, James Gillan, Alison Jiear and Jenna Russell - are due to take part, while actor and director Julia McKenzie will introduce. The late-night event starts at 11.00pm, following the 8.00pm performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Entry for the playfully titled A Midsummer Night's Team concert is free. Attendees are advised to arrive via the theatre's stage door exit (rather than the front entrance) from 10.30pm.
