Grease may be given a run for its money before long. A new 1950s rockabilly musical with screen associations is apparently on the way - Jailhouse Rock. Made a year after his screen debut in Love Me Tender, the 1957 black-and-white film helped shoot a young Elvis Presley to superstar status. In it, Presley played Vince Everett, a troubled young man who, after serving a year in prison, decides to reinvent himself as a rock'n'roll singer. Fame comes quickly for Vince, but he nearly loses his friends and his voice along the way. The musical stage adaptation of Jailhouse Rock is hoping for a West End premiere later this year.
