Wells’ Jumpers for Goalposts transfers to Bush in November

Paines Plough’s production of Tom Wells’ new play Jumpers for Goalposts is transferring to the Bush Theatre in November following a national tour.

The production marks a return to the venue for Wells, whose play The Kitchen Sink opened at the Bush in 2011, winning him Most Promising Playwright at the Critics’ Circle Awards and the George Devine Award.

About football, friendship and finding your way, the play is directed by Paines Plough’s co-artistic director James Grieve (Love Love Love, Fly Me to the Moon, Tiny Volcanoes), who was also an associate director at the Bush.

Luke wants Danny, but Danny’s got a secret. Joe wants to play in goal, but Geoff wants a headline gig. Viv just wants to beat the lesbians to the league title. Game on.

The cast comprises of Philip Duguid-McQuillan, Vivienne Gibbs, Andy Rush, Jamie Samuel and Matt Sutton. It features design by Lucy Osborne, with lighting by Charles Balfour and sound by Nick Manning.

The production visits the Hull Truck Theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Northern Stage, Brewery Arts, Stephen Joseph Theatre and New Wolsey Theatre before running at the Bush from 27 November – 21 December 2013 (previews from 26 November).
