Don Warrington stars in All My Sons in new Talawa season

Britain’s primary Black-led theatre company Talawa has announced its upcoming 2013/14 season.

Don Warrington and Doña Croll will lead the cast of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester, which runs from 25 September to 26 October 2013.

Directed by Talawa’s artistic director Michael Buffong, Arthur Miller’s play is an investigation of honesty, guilt and the corrupting power of greed. Don Warrington’s TV credits include Rising Damp and Death in Paradise, and Doña Croll is best known for playing Vera Corrigan in Doctors.

Michael Buffong will then revive his 2012 National Theatre production of Errol John’s Moon on a Rainbow Shawl for a UK tour in 2014. Set in Port of Spain, Trinidad, as returning troops from the Second World War fill the town with their raucous celebrations, the play depicts a vibrant, cosmopolitan world that is as harsh as it is filled with colour and warmth.

Launching at the New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich on 3 February 2014, the production will visit Leeds, Birmingham, Malvern, Oxford, Cambridge, Richmond, Bath and Nottingham.

The season also features the second year of Talawa Firsts, a series of development workshops on the scripts of emerging writers, followed by a series of play readings and discussions which will run from 3-21 June 2013.

Finally, from 15-17 August 2013 will be TYPT:13, an integrated season for emerging theatre-makers directed by Mojisola Adebayo. The company will devise around the themes of gender and sexuality, presenting their piece of theatre at the Embassy Theatre (Royal Central School of Speech and Drama).
