WOS Radio: Edgar, Doran & co speak from the Heart

Last night (8 May 2012), our Whatsonstage.com theatregoers found themselved in the company of no less than the Archbishop of Canterbury as they attended the West End transfer of David Edgar’s Written on the Heart.

Directed by RSC artistic director-in-waiting Gregory Doran (who, along with David Edgar and the cast joined our post-show Q&A), the play centres on centres on the
creation of the King James Bible and was commissioned to mark last
year’s 400th anniversary of its publication.

The cast, the majority of whom will took part in our post-show Q&A, includes: Oliver Ford Davies, Jamie Ballard, Bruce
Alexander
, Stephen Boxer, Paul Chahidi, James Hayes, Jim
Hooper
, Youssef Kerkour, Joseph Kloska, Sam Marks, Ian Midlane,
Mark Quartley, Daniel Stewart, Simon Thorp, Annette McLaughlin
and Jodie McNee.

Topics covered included the a discussion of the ‘genesis’ of the project, the in-depth research involved and even the rituals the cast go through before each performance.
