Titmuss & Freeman’s Next Year Aims for West End???

Anticipated London transfers start their runs all over the country, but Abi Titmuss and Ben Freeman‘s new play Same Time Next Year may be further away than most – it isn’t even on mainland Britain. The pair open in the hit 1975 Broadway comedy for a four-night run at Jersey Arts Centre this evening (10 May) with producers Ladida and Gerald Brunt Productions keen to see the former glamour model and ex-Emmerdale star transfer their annual love affair to the London stage. A Tony-nominated romantic comedy, the Bernard Slade play sees an adulterous couple meeting only once a year, during which time they discuss the births, deaths and marital problems each is experiencing at home. With a script spanning over 20 years, the characters adapt to the social changes affecting their lives.

Best known for playing Scott Windsor in ITV’s Emmerdale Ben Freeman has been seen in the UK tour of Dreamboats and Petticoats and Big Bruvva the Musical at Upstairs at the Gatehouse, as well as a number of pantomime appearances. Titmuss made her London theatre debut in the 2006 production of Arthur Miller’s Two Way Mirror at the Courtyard Theatre. Recent credits include Up ‘n’ Under at Hull Truck Theatre and the Edinburgh Fringe, Vicki McKellar‘s Paradise Lost at the Leicester Square Theatre and playing Lady Macbeth at the Seagull Theatre, Pakefield.
