Photos: Darvill & Hilton Play With Fire in Faustus

Shakespeare’s Globe have today (18 May 2011) released photos of Doctor Who companion Arthur Darvill and Silk‘s Paul Hilton as Mephistopheles and Faustus in advance of the theatre’s upcoming production Doctor Faustus.

The Globe’s first staging of Christopher Marlowe’s 16th century tragedy, it which runs in rep at the South Bank venue from 23 June (previews from 18 June) to 2 October, directed by Matthew Dunster.

The pair are joined in the cast by: Charlotte Broom, Michael Camp, Nigel Cooke, Jonathan Cullen, Robert Goodale, Sarita Piotrowski, Will Mannering, Pearce Quigley, Iris Roberts, Beatriz Romilly, Richard Clews, Felix Scott, Chinna Wodu and
Jade Williams.

Dunster will work with designer Paul Wills and puppetry director Steve Tiplady, former artistic director of Little Angel Theatre Company, to transform the Globe in to an “arena of wild spectacle with larger than life puppets and illusion”. Huge flying dragons and horned stilt walkers will help to bring alive what is being billed as a “dark fantastical world”.
