Opening: Much Ado, Wilton’s Hands, Bollywood

Amongst the major London openings, in the West End and further afield, in this four-day bank holiday week are:

OPENING WEDNESDAY, 1 June 2011 (previews from 16 May), Josie Rourke directs David Tennant and Catherine Tate in the much-anticipated West End production of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. The Doctor Who pair are reunited at the Wyndham’s Theatre, where the show plays a limited season until 3 September 2011.

ALSO ON WEDNESDAY, following a critically acclaimed tour, theatrical dance extravaganza The Merchants of Bollywood returns to Sadler’s Wells’ Peacock Theatre through 3 July 2011.

OPENING THURSDAY, 2 June (previews from 31 May), Jonathan Holmes‘ Into Thy Hands premieres at Wilton’s Music Hall, starring Zubin Varla as poet John Donne. The production runs through 2 July 2011.

ALSO ON THURSDAY, Stephen Lanigan-O’Keeffe brings his new musical Scaramouche to Hoxton Hall for a limited run through to 11 June 2011.

ALSO ON THURDAY, (previews from 31 May) the marital comedy Conjugal Rites, which inspired the hit ITV series, opens at the Courtyard Theatre. The production stars Alexandra Boyd and Gary Heron and will play until 3 July 2011.

OPENING SATURDAY, 4 June (previews from 28 May) The Magician’s Daughter, a version of Shakespeare’s The Tempest for three to six-year-olds, opens at the Little Angel puppet theatre, in association with the RSC. It will continue its run until 10 July 2011.
