Free Run Injury Postpones Opening at Udderbelly
The opening of the Udderbelly’s headline summer show Free Run has been postponed after one of the show’s performers was seriously injured on Friday evening.
It is understood the injured performer, who has broken shoulder, will not return to the show’s London run. Press night for the show has been postponed until an alternative performer can be found and rehearsed into the production.
Free Run, which continues its runs until 17 July, has been created exclusively for the Udderbelly by parkour and free running team 3RUN. The team, who have been involved in film and television projects including 2006 Bond film Casino Royale and a commercial for Microsoft’s Xbox, currently hold 15 Guinness World Records for the sport and run a Youtube channel that has been viewed over 13 million times. The show is the first live show of its kind to been presented in the UK.
Running for an extended 12 weeks until 17 July 2011 ahead of its annual move north of the border in August for the Edinburgh Fringe, the Udderbelly’s summer programme kicked off on the Royal Wedding weekend showing the nuptials live on the big screens in the adjacent outdoor cow pasture.
The Udderbelly presents a comedy-heavy programme, part of Southbank Centre’s 60th anniversary of the 1951 Festival of Britain celebrations, with highlights including one-nighters from I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue star Barry Cryer and the first live performance by Trigger Happy TV comic Dom Joly.
