Or You Could Kiss Me– Taking their puppetry to a whole new level, Handspring join forces with Neil Bartlett to create Or You Could Kiss Me, a brand new play for the National. Written especially to be performed with puppets, Bartlett’s new play explores the intimate history of two very private lives living in extraordinary times. With design from War Horse collaborator Rae Smith, the show promises grown up puppetry and gripping emotional content.
Shoes– Currently getting toes tapping at Sadlers Wells is the latest project from Stephen Mear, Shoes. Inspired by one of the great passions of the modern age, Shoes explores the delights of footwear, from the highs of the Louboutin to the lows of the Croc. Composed by Richard Thomas, in his first large-scale production since the legendary West End and Broadway hit Jerry Springer – The Opera, and featuring the work of a team of leading choreographers, this is a dance revue for modern times that sees life told from street-level perspective with wit, irreverence and affection.
Lend Me a Tenor– With just a few weeks to go, before opening night, the brand new production of the eagerly expected Lend Me a Tenor is getting everything ready in Plymouth for a short opening run before heading into the west end. This clip takes a look at the set build for the show, all taking place onsite in the TR2 at the Theatre Royal.
Clybourne Park– Already prompting huge discussion and making sell out audiences shudder with unease, Bruce Norris’ satirical new play explores the fault line between race and property. Contrasting a 1950’s community with the same area 50 years later, are the issues festering beneath the floorboards actually the same half a century on? With the offer of a transfer closer to town already on the table, be sure to book tickets and enjoy its achingly sharp wit whilst still at the wonderfully intimate Royal Court.
