WOS Radio: Turner & Co at Holding the Man Q&A

One hundred and forty theatregoers attended our Whatsonstage.com Outing to Australian import Holding the Man at Trafalgar Studios last night, and were treated to a post-show Q&A with members of the cast, the adaptor Tommy Murphy and director David Berthold.

Murphy’s award-winning adaptation of the best-selling memoir by
the late Australian actor, writer and activist Tim Conigrave tells the
love story of Conigrave and John Caleo, from 1970s teenage romance to
the Aids-ravaged 1980s and 90s.

Australians Guy Edmonds and Matt Zeremes make their West End
debuts reprising their starring roles in the UK production, which also
features Kath & Kim’s Jane Turner – a friend of Conigrave
and Caleo’s who wears a variety of fright wigs while playing some 15
characters, including several childhood friends – as well as Simon
Burke
, Oliver Farnworth and Anna Skellern.

At last night’s Q&A the company discussed how they came to be involved in the production, their experiences working with the team and how audiences have reacted. Edmonds and Zeremes told us about how they came to be cast, while Turner made us laugh with anecdotes from her previous stage work (she also talked about her very personal relationship with the play). We also hear from all the cast about what it means to them to be part of a play that deals openly and honestly with issues to which many people can strongly relate.

The discussion was chaired by Holding the Man director David Berthold. To listen, click the ‘play’ button below, or click here to subscribe and download from iTunes.
