1st Night Photos: Goodman & Stevenson Duet

Matthew Lloyd‘s revival of Tom Kempinski’s Duet for One, starring Olivier Award winners Juliet Stevenson and Henry Goodman (pictured), opened  at the Vaudeville Theatre last night (13 May 2009, previews from 7 May), transferring from the Almeida via a short regional tour (See News, 13 Mar 2009).

In the two-hander, Stevenson is celebrated concert violinist Stephanie Abrahams. After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, she consults psychiatrist Dr Feldmann, played by Goodman, whose probing questions delve deep her complex personality and force her to consider a future without music.

1986 Hollywood film starred Julie Andrews and Max von Sydow.

This new production – directed by Matthew Lloyd and designed by Lez Brotherston – ran from 29 January (previews from 22 January) to 14 March at the Almeida, before touring to Bath, Windsor and Richmond Theatre pre-West End.
