One’s short and one’s curly but both Sandi Toksvig and Bonnie Langford (pictured together) have plenty of brains between them and are currently devising their first stage show together. Television/radio personality Toksvig and musical theatre stalwart Langford kick off their high-energy comic tour Short and Curly this month at Kendal’s Brewery Arts Centre, reaching London’s Bloomsbury Theatre on 8 June 2007.

A second London stop at Millfield Theatre on 12 June is only part of the duo’s UK summer tour, which starts 22 May 2007 and includes performances in Perth, Salisbury, Guildford, Croydon, Loughborough and Chelmsford, wrapping up in Worthing on 19 July. The new 31-date schedule follows an 11-date tryout for the new show in 2006.

Billed as “the ultimate one-woman show – with two of them”, Short and Curly promises an “unexpected potpourri of comedic capers” including songs and dance routines interlaced with introspective moments that reflect the highs and lows of Toksvig and Langford’s individual careers and 20-year friendship.

Toksvig is a columnist, novelist and television regular who currently hosts BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz. She has also appeared as a presenter of I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue, Call My Bluff and Have I Got News For You.

Langford, a former child star, is best known for her roles in West End musicals including Chicago, Sweet Charity, Guys and Dolls, Cats and Gypsy, and her more recent appearance in the 2006 series of ITV’s Dancing on Ice. Short and Curly is presented on tour by Jeremy Meadow Ltd.
