Imogen Stubbs can currently be seen on stage as Gertrude in her director-husband Trevor Nunn’s acclaimed Hamlet at the Old Vic. And she’ll have more than a hand in his next West End production too. Stubbs has written We Happy Few which Nunn will direct for an expected late June opening. Juliet Stevenson is due to star in the play about Henrietta Oaks, the real-life manager of a theatre company during the Second World War. According to the Daily Mail, the new production is headed for Shaftesbury Avenue’s Gielgud Theatre, where the Almeida’s Festen has been previously tipped to transfer (See The Goss, 28 Apr 2004). Both are being produced by Bill Kenwright, and it now looks like, subject to casting for the rest, that Stubbs’ seven-hander will be first out of the gates with Festen happening later in the year.
