Potted Potter Marks Fifth Birthday at Garrick in Aug

Kids’ show Potted Potter – the first and best-known stage offering from Olivier-nominated double act Dan and Jeff – will mark its fifth anniversary this August, returning to the Edinburgh Fringe for its for a fifth time before transferring to the West End’s Garrick Theatre from 18 to 29 August 2011.

Potted Potter, subtitled “The Unauthorised Harry Experience – A Parody by Dan and Jeff”, sees the two former Blue Peter and CBBC presenters zoom through all of JK Rowling’s seven Harry Potter books in just 70 minutes.

The piece started life when Dan and Jeff, aka Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner, originally “potted” some of the characters and creatures from Rowling’s fantasy world for a five-minute performance commissioned by a bookshop to launch the sixth novel in the series.

The full stage show was first seen at Edinburgh in 2006 and has since had three sell-out London seasons and toured extensively nationally and internationally. The duo followed Potted Potter with Potted Pirates and Potted Panto, which had a season this past Christmas at the West End’s Vaudeville Theatre and was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Entertainment.

In Edinburgh, Potted Potter will run from 3 to 16 August 2011 at the Pleasance Courtyard. It will also tour pre-festival and post-West End to Bury St Edmunds, Bedford, Kettering, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Buxton, Leeds, Taunton and Great Torrington.
