Guests at the Phoenix Art Club will get to see a very different side of Lisa Dillon this Thursday night. The actress - best known for her roles in straight plays including Design for Living, A Flea in Her Ear and currently The Knot of the Heart, in which she plays a crack addict – will hightail it straight from the Almeida stage in the last to appear in a preview performance of Secrets of Soho, a new musical she’s co-written with her partner, composer and Soho-based singer-songwriter Tim Arnold.

Arnold comes from three generations of Soho entertainers. The musical is inspired by his 2006 solo album of the same name and tells the stories of the real people behind London’s most colourful area, drawing on his own family’s experiences. His mother, former Windmill showgirl Polly Perkins, will feature in Thursday’s showcase along with West End musical leading lady Kelly Price and cabaret legend Peter Straker. Thursday’s late-night showcase, starting at 11pm, is by invitation only. For further information, visit the show website at www.secretsofsoho.com.
