Following its award-winning success at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe, Hamlet! - The Musical will be remounted next month in Northampton and Richmond ahead of a possible West End transfer.

The comedy romp version of Shakespeare’s tragedy – which won the audience-voted Favourite Fringe Musical prize at Edinburgh’s Musical Theatre Matters Awards, sponsored by Whatsonstage.com – runs at Northampton Royal and Derngate from 6 to 21 May 2011, before transferring to Richmond Theatre from 24 to 28 May.

Jack Shalloo reprises his titular role as the Prince of Denmark in a six-strong, role-swapping cast that also features West End veteran David Burt, Gabriel Vick (himself Whatsonstage.com Award nominated in 2010 for A Little Night Music), Mark Inscoe, Jess Robinson and Virge Gilchrist.

Shalloo is currently appearing in The Kissing Dance at the Jermyn Street Theatre. His other recent credits include the Whatsonstage.com Award 2011 Best New Musical nominee Departure Lounge, which he also performed an extract from at the Whatsonstage.com Awards Concert at the West End’s Prince of Wales Theatre in February.

Hamlet! - The Musical is written by Alex Silverman, Timothy Knapman and Edward Jaspers, directed by Ryan McBryde. This new co-production is mounted by Royal & Derngate, Northampton and Eleanor Lloyd Productions.
