Foreign exchange company Travelex must be very pleased indeed with how its £10 season at the National’s Olivier Theatre has gone down. Last year’s inaugural season won the Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Award for Theatre Event of the Year and the second annual event gets under way this week with Cyrano de Bergerac, starring Stephen Rea. Now, Travelex is sharing the wealth in Covent Garden, too. The company has signed a similar three-year, £1 million sponsorship with the Royal Opera House, which will bring some top-price opera and ballet tickets (usually up to £175) down to just a tenner, too. At the ROH, however, these will be restricted to just 100 seats for Monday evening performances only. They’ll be sold 90 minutes before the relevant performances.
