Henshall Celebrates Magnificent Musicals on Tour

West End diva Ruthie Henshall (pictured) takes to the road this week with a tribute to the musical theatre genre that has made her name. In The Magnificent Musicals, she'll sing a selection of songs from some of the greatest musicals of the 20th century. The show opens at Bromley's Churchill Theatre on 11 April 2002 before continuing until 28 September to 14 further venues.

Henshall's many musical stage credits include Les Miserables, Oliver!, Cats, Miss Saigon, She Loves Me and Chicago, Nominated four times for a Laurence Olivier Award, Henshall won Best Actress in a Musical honours in 1995 for her portrayal of Amalia Balash in She Loves Me. Amongst her other accolades, she was recently named the Most Popular Musical Actress of the last 20 years by the Theatregoers' Club of Great Britain.

Henshall's most recent West End starring role was in last year's musical, Peggy Sue Got Married at the Shaftesbury Theatre. In The Magnificent Musicals, she's joined by her Peggy Sue co-star, Canadian Tim Howar as well as Andrew Halliday.

Howar's other musical credits include Les Miserables, Anything That Moves, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Tommy, while Halliday has been seen City of Angels, Follies, Carousel, The Phantom of the Opera, Save Your Last Waltz, Divorce Me Darling and Over My Shoulder.

In The Magnificent Musicals, the trio, accompanied by an on-stage orchestra, will perform songs from musicals such as High Society, My Fair Lady Annie Get Your Gun, Cabaret as well as many of the shows they've starred in during their own careers.

After Bromley, The Magnificent Musicals will visit Northampton, Glasgow, Belfast, Southend-on-Sea, Manchester, Plymouth, Richmond, Milton Keynes, Malvern, Basingstoke, Cambridge, Croydon and Sheffield.
