Kitson & National Theatre Wales feature in 2013 Latitude line-up

The line-up has been announced for the 2013 Latitude Festival, which takes place in Henham Park in Suffolk from 18-21 July.

As noted for its theatre and comedy programme as much as its music, Latitude, now in its eighth year, has become established as one of the UK’s leading multidisciplinary festivals.

This year the Theatre Arena will host productions from National Theatre Wales (bringing their new show Praxis Make Perfect), the Royal Exchange, National Youth Theatre, Ockham’s Razor, Made In China and Battersea Arts Centre, among others.

There will also be two shows from multi award-winner Daniel Kitson, who will present two performances of his current tour After the
Beginning. Before the End.
, and the
first previews of a “brand new theatrical work”.

Outside the theatre tent, Sadler’s Wells will mark its sixth appearance at the festival and its first full length dance show on the Waterfront Stage, featuring award-winning flamenco dancer Rocío Molina. Forest Fringe will also return, inviting festivalgoers to reveal their dreams in order to bring them to life.

And, following their 2012 collaboration, Latitude has once
again joined forces with Lyric Hammersmith, Greenwich + Docklands
International Festival and Watford Palace Theatre to present a “visual
and physical outdoor theatre extravaganza”, comprising four new commissions.

The music headliners this year are Bloc Party, Kraftwerk and Foals, while the comedy arena will host names including Dylan Moran, Tim Key and Mark Watson.

Tania Harrison, programmer of the arts arenas commented: “The most exciting part about creating a programme for Latitude is that it is a playground of possibility. Sometimes it feels like eleven stages packed with artists and performance is too much, too many things and ideas to get your head round and other times I think, hell, that’s not nearly enough!

“It’s pretty exciting this year with neuroscientists, thinkers and speakers adding to the creative mix at Latitude. There’s something stimulating for everyone from the fascinating to the roll around funny. I hope you like it.”
