Jermyn Street hosts London premiere of John Lennon bio-play

By • West End

Jermyn Street Theatre will host the London premiere of Alexander Marshall's And in the End - The Death and Life of John Lennon in May.

Set in the final moments of Lennon's life after his 1980 assassination by Mark Chapman, the play stars Valentine Pelka, who created the title role at the Edinburgh Fringe.

According to press material: "One of the most iconic figures of the 20th century lies in a pool of blood struggling for life... Fighting to stay alive, John Lennon finds himself caught in a limbo between life and death. As his former years flash before him, gatekeepers of his past help him confront the five stages of death - denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance."

Written by Emmy Award-winner Alexander Marshall (The Madhouse Brigade), the play was first seen at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2004.

It's run at Jermyn Street, which is produced by the Anglo-American production team Marshall+Cole Theatricals Ltd (who also staged Giles Cole's The Art of Concealment at the venue), is from 9 May to 1 June 2013 (previews from 7 May).
