South Bank Revisits Lloyd Webber’s Love???

Andrew Lloyd Webber obviously has a soft spot for Melvyn Bragg and ITV’s late South Bank Show. For the last-ever South Bank Show Awards in January (See The Goss, 25 Jan 2010), Lloyd Webber gave viewers a sneak peek performance of the title song from his Phantom of ther Opera sequel Love Never Dies, in which he accompanied his leading lady Sierra Boggess.

Now in the first of a ten-part The South Bank Show Revisited series, Bragg interviews Lloyd Webber about his preparation for Love Never Dies, which has its world premiere tonight (9 March 2010) at the West End’s Adelphi Theatre, as well as his reality TV shows for the BBC.

The South Bank Show has interviewed Lloyd Webber four times in the past, including in 1986 at the time of The Phantom of the Opera’s premiere. The new programme, which will be aired on 28 March 2010, will include archive footage from those earlier pieces. After 30 years, the final regular edition of The South Bank Show, which focused on the Royal Shakespeare Company, aired on 28 December 2009. All ten of the Revisited programmes will provide updates on previously featured artists and subjects.
