Ford Davies Lets Slip Hamlet Film Plans???

Good news for those of you who signed the petition to get a filmed version of David Tennant’s Hamlet (See The Goss, 19 Jan 2009) – according to yesterday’s Sunday Telegraph, it looks like the project is going ahead.

Speaking to reporter Tim Walker at the launch of the Olivier Awards last week, Oliver Ford Davies, who played Polonius in the production and is nominated in the Best Performance in a Supporting Role category, said: “We are intending to film it over two or three weeks in June. It won’t be a full feature film as there isn’t time but it will certainly be more than just the filming of the stage. It will be fantastic to work together again.”

A spokesperson from the RSC wouldn’t confirm to Whatsonstage.com that the filming is going ahead, but did say that the company is “trying to facilitate” a shoot in the forthcoming months. “As you can imagine, the logistics of getting everyone together are proving quite tricky” she added.
