1st Night Photos: Cattrall & Jacobi Support De Sade

The third instalment of the Donmar’s year-long residency at the Wyndham’s theatre opened last night (18 March 2009, previews from 13 March), an adaptation (by Donald Keene) of Yukio Mishima’s little known 1965 drama Madame de Sade.

Among the guests were cast members from the previous two productions in the season, including recent Olivier Award-winner Derek Jacobi, and Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall (pictured), who starred in the Donmar revival of David Mamet’s The Cryptogram in 2006.

Starring an all-female cast of Judi Dench, Rosamund Pike, Frances Barber, Deborah Findlay, Fiona Button and Jenny Galloway, the Madame de Sade centres on five women affected by the infamous debauchery of the Marquis de Sade, including his wife and mother. Donmar artistic director Michael Grandage directs, with design by Christopher Oram.
