Opening: Jersey Boys, Nowhere & RSC at Tricycle

Amongst the major openings in London this week are:

OPENING TUESDAY, 18 March 2008 (previews from 28 February), Jersey Boys (pictured), the award-winning Broadway musical telling the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, opens at the Prince Edward Theatre starring Ryan Molloy, Stephen Ashfield, Glenn Carter and Philip Bulcock (See News, 14 Jan 2008). Hits featured in the show include “Sherry”, “Walk Like a Man”, “December, 1963 (Oh What a Night)”, “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You”, “Working My Way Back to You” and “Who Loves You”. The production is directed by Des McAnuff and is currently booking through to 18 October.

ALSO ON TUESDAY, previews from 12 March, a new RSC commission by Roy Williams, Days of Significance, opens at the Tricycle Theatre. Set in the South East of England and Basra in Southern Iraq, the play tells the story of two young soldiers who make the most of a drunken night out with their friends before they leave for active service in Iraq. The production is directed by Maria Aberg with designs by Lizzie Clachan, and runs for a strictly limited run at the Tricycle until 29 March.

OPENING THURSDAY, 20 March 2008, Journalist Yasmin Alibhai-Brown performs Nowhere to Belong – Tales of an Extravagant Stranger, her one-woman show about her passion for Shakespeare, at Greenwich Theatre. Presented by British theatre company, Tara Arts, the piece is directed by Gavin Marshall and will be at Greenwich for this single performance only! Catch it while you can…
