Speaking of the Menier Chocolate Factory, its success may soon be replicated by someone who knows its winning formula very well indeed. Three years ago, Danielle Tarento co-founded the Chocolate Factory with David Babani. Under the joint artistic directors, the Menier has enjoyed enormous success, including three West End transfers (including Little Shop of Horrors, which opens at the Duke of York’s next week), three Whatsonstage.com Awards for Best Off-West End Production, an Evening Standard Award for Outstanding Newcomer, and those five Oliviers for Sunday in the Park with George. Tarento parted ways with Babani and the Menier four months ago but is now in talks to launch another new London venue. The former actress, whose parents run wine bars, was the brainchild behind the Menier’s big money-maker, its adjacent bar and restaurant, so she’s likely to provide a tasty alternative.
