Specially created sketches by Blue Man Group will open and close each weather bulletin on LWT London Regional Weather from 24 March 2006, in a sponsorship deal giving viewers a brief glimpse of the creativity that has contributed to the success of the show, which has been playing at the New London Theatre since November 2005. In a first for ITV, the spots have been devised and produced by Blue Man Group’s original creators, Chris Wink, Phil Stanton and Matt Goldman, who started the phenomenon in Manhattan in 1982. The group made its first foray into advertising with the Intel Pentium III campaign in the late Nineties. Chris Wink said: “This partnership gives us a great opportunity to have fun and showcase Blue Man Group in a key medium.” Gary Knight, brand partnerships director of ITV commented: “I am delighted that Blue Man Group has decided to sponsor the LWT Weather as this represents an exciting new entrant into the genre from the world of entertainment.”
