According to today’s Daily Mail, bass guitarist Roger Waters of Pink Floyd is planning to turn The Wall into a stage musical. The British rock band’s 1979 concept album, which counts “Another Brick in the Wall” amongst its songs, has already been made into a film (starring Bob Hoskins and Bob Geldof in 1982) and a concert version performed in Berlin just after the Wall there came down. According to the newspaper, Billy Elliot’s Lee Hall and former Royal Shakespeare Company artistic director Adrian Noble are in the frame to contribute the book and direction, respectively. The musical could also feature songs from other Pink Floyd albums, such as Dark Side of the Moon. It’s still up in the air whether the show would premiere first in the West End or on Broadway.
