Wicked extends West End booking period to April 2014

Whatsonstage.com Award-winning musical Wicked, now in its seventh year at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, has extended booking until 26 April 2014.

First opened on Broadway in October 2003, Wicked
received its West End premiere in 2006. Its many
awards include eight Whatsonstage.com Awards, including Best New Musical
in its opening year, and Best West End Show, our award for
longer-runners (for which it is again nominated this year), twice.

Wicked‘s current Elphaba and Glinda Louise Dearman and Gina Beck, the latter
nominated this year for Best Takeover in a Role, will sing “Let Me Be
Your Star” from American hit TV series Smash at the Whatsonstage.com Awards Concert on 17 February. Click here for tickets.

Wicked also currently stars: Ben Freeman (Fiyero), Louise Plowright
(Madame Morrible), Keith Bartlett (The Wizard), Christopher Howell (Doctor Dillamond), Sam Lupton (Boq), Katie
Rowley Jones (Nessarose), Hayley Gallivan (Standby Elphaba) and Lucy van Gasse (Standby Glinda).

While continuing its open-ended West End run, Wicked has also recently announced a major tour of the UK and Ireland, which opens at the Palace Theatre in Manchester on 12 September 2013.

Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire that re-imagined the stories and characters created by L Frank
Baum in ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, Wicked tells the untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two girls who first meet as sorcery students. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Wicked has music and lyrics by Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman and is directed by two-time Tony and Olivier Award nominee Joe Mantello.
