Havana Rumba! brings salsa to Udderbelly Festival

Havana Rumba! has been confirmed for this year’s Udderbelly Festival, which returns to Southbank for its fourth consecutive summer and will be situated within the ‘London Wonderground’.

Running from 30 May to 8 July 2012, the upbeat musical show, led by Cuban salsa band Sonora La Calle, is billed as “an intoxicating cocktail of Rumba, Salsa, Rum and Reggaeton”.

Written by Toby Gough, Havana Rumba! was a hit at the 2008 Edinburgh Festival Fringe; Gough’s other production Brazil! Brazil! headlined the Udderbelly Festival in 2010.

Among the dancers in Havana Rumba! are Juventino “El Chico Divino,” Osvadys “the DON of Reggaeton,” and Eric Turro “El Maestro” Martinez. Martinez, who has been dancing for over 25 years, is co-founder of Buena Vista TM.

As previously announced, Tim Minchin will play the Udderbelly closing night on 8 July. Further line-up details will be announced shortly.
