Who Might Succeed Dominic Dromgoole at the Globe???

The Donmar Warehouse may not be the only leading London theatre advertising an artistic director vacancy over the coming months. Following Michael Grandage’s resignation announcement in October, we hear that Dominic Dromgoole is preparing to reveal his plans to step down as artistic director of Shakespeare’s Globe. Like Grandage, there won’t be any great rush. Dromgoole recently told Whatsonstage.com he wasn’t going anywhere until after the Olympics or before the just-announced Indoor Jacobean Theatre was “bedded in” – construction doesn’t begin on that until November 2012, with an inaugural season slated a year later. Dromgoole succeeded the Globe’s founding artistic director, Mark Rylance, in late 2005. He told Whatsonstage.com that he’d personally like whoever succeeds him to be someone promoted from within the Globe. The theatre is holding a press conference this Thursday to announce cast and creative details for this summer’s “The Word Is God” season – and maybe something else too?
