Scott Thomas Set for Betrayal in London???

Kristin Scott Thomas has revealed plans to return to the London stage, four years after her Olivier Award-winning turn in the Royal Court’s production of The Seagull. Speaking to French newspaper Le Figaro, the actress, who is based in Paris, said: “I’m going through a period of reflection (away from films) … I’m about to act in Betrayal by Harold Pinter on stage in London.” She goes on to call it “a project that makes me want to get up each morning” and praises the language of Pinter, comparing him to Racine and Chekhov.

Famously played backwards in time, Betrayal – one of Pinter’s most oft-revived plays – traces a seven-year affair between art gallery owner Emma and literary agent Jerry, the best friend of her publisher husband Robert, from its poignant end to its first illicit kiss. It was last seen in London at the Donmar Warehouse in 2007, when it starred Dervla Kirwan and Samuel West.
