Cast: Moraghan in Priscilla, Day Joins Hurly Burly

Mark Moraghan, best known for playing Owen Davies in Holby City, is joining the cast of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical at the Palace Theatre from 7 March 2011.
Moraghan, who takes over from Ray Meagher as mechanic Bob, joins previously announced new cast member Richard Grieve, who takes over from Ben Richards as Tick (the role originally played in the West End by Jason Donovan). The multi award-winning musical also stars Don Gallagher as Bernadette and Oliver Thornton as Adam.

Besides Holby City, Moraghan’s other television roles include series regular Ray Wyatt in Dream Team and Greg Shadwick in Brookside. His theatre credits include Our Day Out and Funny Money for the Royal Court, Liverpool and Fears and Miseries of the Third Reich for the Liverpool Playhouse and the Young Vic.

Currently booking until 7 January 2012 Priscilla is based on the 1994 Oscar-winning film which tells the story of Sydney drag queen Mitzi (aka Tick) and her two fish-out-of-water friends, Felicia (Adam) and transsexual Bernardette, as they head west across the desert to Alice Springs in their battered old bus.

The principal cast are joined by Gemma O’Duffy, Charlotte Riby and Lucinda Shaw as the three Divas, Newley Aucutt as Miss Understanding, Selina Chilton as Marion, Daniele Coombe as Shirley, Tristan Temple as Jimmy, Kanako Nakano as Cynthia, Steven Cleverley as Farrah/Young Bernadette and John Brannoch as Frank.

Singer/songwriter Spencer Day will join the cast of The Hurly Burly Show, which opens at the Garrick Theatre on 11 March (previews from 3 March), to perform two specially commissioned songs.

Day joins Miss Polly Rae and her ‘Hurly Burly Girlys’ – Cindy Belliot, Sarah Louise Buckle, Fallon Donakay, Katie Ella Hardwicke, Kathryn Mclauglin, Jennifer White and Sophie Zucchini – throughout the run at the Garrick Theatre, which finishes on 1 May 2011.

The production, puts a contemporary twist on traditional burlesque, transfers from the Leicester Square Theatre where Rae, an established burlesque artist and vocalist, played a limited run earlier this year.

Vocalist, songwriter and pianist Spencer Day has released three albums Introducing Spencer Day, Movie of Your Life and Vagabond. He has opened for Rufus Wainwright at the Napa Valley Opera House and has appeared at the Monterey Jazz Festival as well as the Tanglewood Jazz Festival.
