That Face Set for West End in April???

Final negotiations are underway for the long-awaited West End transfer of Polly Stenham’s multi award-winning debut play That Face (See The Goss, 8 May 2007). In our podcast from last week’s Critics’ Circle Award, where Stenham scooped her second Most Promising Playwright prize (See WOS Radio, 30 Jan 2008), the 21-year-old confirmed that the commercial transfer was all but a done deal for the play that was a sell-out hit last spring at the Royal Court Upstairs. Jeremy Herrin’s production – with its original cast, including Lindsay Duncan and Matt Smith – is likely to re-open in April, with an official announcement due imminently. In a middle-class family, Duncan is the drug-raddled mother fixated on her teenage son (played by Smith) and oblivious to the boarding school terror tactics exerted by her daughter.
